Lost keys unlock better life for street entrepreneur

What started out as a sad story with a business having to be closed for two days, rewarded a resident, who is making a living on the street, when he helped to find the lost property.

POLOKWANE – A second hand motor retailer in Ladanna, Mudiba Motors, incurred a loss for two days when the bag the company keeps all the vehicle keys in went missing.

Several people in the community, businesses and even municipal workers helped Mudiba Motors personnel look for the lost keys.

“One of the people who helped us look for the keys said a bag similar to the one we were looking for was dropped off at a nearby locksmith. When we arrived at the locksmith we found it was indeed the missing keys,” said Iola Botha, the manager of the garage.

She added even though it started out as a bad situation, it had a happy ending, for both the retailer and the man who gave the tip which led to the keys.

“We offered a reward to anyone who helped us find the keys and the man who helped us makes a living on the streets. We will not make his name public but all we can say is he will be better off for just taking the opportunity to reach out and help others. People need to report crimes in the city more often, and not just for a monetary reward but also for the peace of mind they get knowing they made life better for themselves and others,” she said.
