The African National Congress’s (ANC) Deputy Provincial Secretary, Basikopo Makamu was sworn in as Member of the Legislature (MPL) by the Speaker of the Legislature Polly Boshielo during a ceremony held at Parliamentary Village earlier this morning (Thursday).
Makamu, who is replacing the late Joyce Mashamba, afterwards said he was ready to serve the people of Limpopo and strengthen the ANC-led government.
During the ceremony Boshielo indicated that there is a vacant seat for the ANC in the Legislature following the resignation of the party’s Provincial Secretary, Soviet Lekganyane to be filled by Victor Nkholo Mashamaite, who is expected to be sworn in any day soon.
Upon conclusion of the ceremony Lekganyane wished Makamu well in his new responsibilities and reiterated that he should serve with dignity.
