Suspects in Masemola/Jane Furse taxi violence granted bail

This follows an incident between the Masemola and Jane Furse Taxi Associations on 9 July where a group of men fired shots at a taxi driver before burning his taxi. A second taxi was also damaged with stones.

LIMPOPO – Three suspects, arrested in connection with the recent taxi violence in Masemola and Jane Furse, appeared before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday, 24 July 2018) for their formal bail application.

The suspects (aged between 46 and 65) each face a charge of attempted murder and were granted bail of R1 000, said Constable Maphure Manamela.

All three suspects are expected back in court on 6 August, said Manmela.

The 60-year-old chairperson of  Masemola taxi association and a 42-year-old co-accused arrested on a charge of malicious damage to property will reappear before the same court on 26 July for a formal bail application.

Police investigations continue, concluded Manamela.
