Man who shot Polokwane restaurant owner hands himself over to police

Police say the motive behind the murder is still unknown but investigations continue

POLOKWANE – According to police spokesperson, Captain Mamphaswa Seabi, the 43-year-old suspect handed himself over to Polokwane Police at midday on 19 July 2018, in the company of his legal representative.

“The suspect, who resides in Seshego, shot and killed the victim inside his fast food shop on Wednesday, 18 July. The motive for the murder is still unknown,” Seabi added.

The suspect appeared before the Polokwane Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody. He will next appear 30 July 2018 for a formal bail application.

“As Police, we would like to encourage residents not to resort to violence as a solution during disputes, but rather sit around the table for discussion and resolve their differences,” Seabi concluded.
