POLOKWANE – WackyBox, a subdivision of the Educational Box Company, hosted the open day at the Members in Christ Church in Fauna Park on Saturday, 14 July to show parents and children aged five months to six years just what they can look forward to when they join the WackyBox programme.
Polokwane WackyBox Sales Representative, Salome van Vuuren, hosted the open day and demonstrated some of the fun activities the boxes come with.
“The monthly boxes contain all the necessities for about 12 to 14 age-appropriate activities you can do with your child. These activities are specifically targeted to help with your child’s developmental milestones such as fine and gross motor skills development among others which makes parents’ lives a bit easier as they no longer have to worry how they can help their children with their development,” Salome explained.
She told Review the WackyBox initiative was started by Nicolene Steyn, a mother of two, who hosted toddler stimulation classes in Heidelberg in 2013. She saw a need to provide parents countrywide with everything they need to do developmental activities with their children and thus WackyBox came about.
“WackyBox ensures working and stay-at-home moms can spend effortless quality time with their toddlers without the hassle to prepare, and with ways to minimise the mess. WackyBox is not limited just to parents, however, as there is also a package for preschools available on request,” Salome added.
Nicolene was one of the guest speakers during the open day and encouraged the mothers by setting their minds at ease that all mothers sometimes get tired and frustrated with their children.
Her motto is: ‘If the mother is okay, then the child is okay’ and she encouraged the mothers to keep this in mind.
After the motivational talk, the children started having loads of fun, exploring some of the WackyBox packages.
WackyBox is all about providing activities which meet all developmental requirements and is loads of fun so children can learn through play. The children played together wholeheartedly and before long even the shy toddlers seemed to come out of their shells.
Towards the end of the open day, every child went home with a souvenir to remember the day, and every mom went home with the assurance and knowledge that she is definitely the best mom for her child.
