The Police in Polokwane have launched a massive manhunt following the murder of a local businessman who was reportedly gunned down at his restaurant along Church Street last night (Wednesday).
It is alleged that a man walked into the shop without uttering a word, produced a 9mm pistol, shot the 57-year-old business owner and sped off in a Ford Ranger. A source close to the deceased said he was shot in the leg and forehead.
The deceased owned several businesses including fast food outlets, taxis and apartments, the source stated and added that the deceased used to stay in Seshego but recently moved to the city.
In a statement the Provincial Police said the motive behind the incident is still unknown. Provincial Police spokesperson Mamphaswa Seabi said the Police were summoned to the scene whereupon a manhunt ensued. He pleaded with the public to assist the Police to arrest the perpetrators, saying anyone with information about the incident is requested to contact Captain Otto on 082 575 8073 or 086 001 0111, SMS the information to 32211 or report it to the nearest Police station.
