Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the death of six people including three children after a Toyota Venture overturned on the R81 at Ga-Makgoba village between Polokwane and Mooketsi on Saturday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the driver of the vehicle had apparently lost control around a curve in the road causing the vehicle to overturn several times before coming to a standstill on its roof.
Five occupants died on the scene while a sixth was certified dead on arrival at hospital, according to Ngoepe. Among the deceased were three children, a man and two women, one of which is believed to have been pregnant.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation and the names of the deceased will only be released once all next of kin have been informed.
