SPCA looks back on some of their proud and sad moments of the past year

The SPCA Polokwane held their annual general meeting recently

POLOKWANE –  During the year the SPCA saw a growth in the number of animals the organisation took care of.
A total of 762 stray cats and 472 stray dogs found their way to the SPCA while a further 627 cats and 964 dogs were donated throughout the year.
One of the highlights of the past year was the opening of a clinic at the SPCA run by Vet Nadia Krige that saw a further income for the SPCA and more needed assistance for animals in need.
Committee Chairperson Tanya le Roux from the SPCA told Review she was very proud of the team of people with open hearts that gathered their strength everyday to sometimes deal with the heartbreak of animals being mistreated or abandoned.
“At the end of the day all stray animals end up with the SPCA and they need our assistance and care.
“Sometimes there are some very happy stories of people finding their best friends here and in some cases the abuse of animals leads to their destruction.
“I just want to thank everyone who plays a part in the rehabilitation, care and adoption in some cases of these animals giving them a fair chance in life,” Le Roux said.
The SPCA is situated at 46, Lansdale, Roodepoort, Polokwane.
They can be contacted at (015) 291 1088.
They are open Mondays to Fridays from 08:30 to 16:30 and Saturdays from 09:00 to 11:30.
