Mookgophong licensing office ready

The Mookgophong Traffic and Licensing Office is up and running since it was destroyed in a fire in April, and a new E-Natis System was also successfully installed.

LIMPOPO – Marlene van Staden, Mayor of Mookgophong, said the Traffic and Licensing Office was destroyed in a devastating fire in April.

“The DA, with the help of the community, decided to re-equip the facility.

“Given the municipality’s current financial difficulties, the DA and the community took charge to ensure that traffic and licensing services can once again be delivered to the residents of Mookgophong.”

According to Van Staden, the municipality’s Head of Protection Services, Arrie Opperman, and DA councillor, Hercules Louw, oversaw the installation of two security doors, burglar bars between the two offices and wall plugs for the computers.

In addition, provision has been made for money drawers, cabinets, a safe, a photocopying machine and partitioning for the cashiers.

Five extra cameras and an alarm system have also been installed.

Van Staden said the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) installed the E-Natis system following the hard work.

“The office currently only has one 3G connection, but more lines are due to be installed.”

The doors will open at 08:30 and the staff will assist residents with the following:

• Vehicle registrations.

• Vehicle licence renewals.

• Temporary drivers’ licences.

• Vehicle Police Clearance.

Van Staden said the office has the necessary forms, but as there is no card facility yet, only EFTs or cash payments will be accepted.

“Residents will be able to renew their driver’s licences and register vehicles, new learner or driver’s licences or road worthy tests.”

Van Staden stated the DA is working hard to improve the municipality’s financial situation for better service delivery.

“I thank each and every individual who helped to make this day happen.”
