Residents of the city where turned away from Polokwane Municipality’s licensing offices this morning (Thursday) due to the unavailability of forms required to print licensing and registration documents. No temporary drivers’ licenses could be issued either.
Communications and Marketing Manager of the municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo explained that the forms are provided by the Department of Transport. “The department has no forms in stock and until the supply is replenished, the municipality will not be able to provide the services,” Mothapo said.
Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala confirmed that the department is awaiting delivery of forms from the Government Printing Works. “We ordered the forms in time but have learnt that the Government Printing Works is running behind schedule and had to outsource work,” Moremi-Taueatsoala said and added that the department will source forms from other centres in the province today and deliver it to the municipality as a matter of urgency.
No comment could be sourced from the Government Printing Works as the number provided on their website remained unanswered.
