Limpopo National Taxi Alliance (LNTA) recently elected its new regional executive who will serve for a period of five years.
The newly elected regional chairperson, Matsobane Lekgothoane is delighted to be entrusted with the responsibility to lead the region and indicated that the elections were fair and open. He stated that their duty as the executive would be to ensure that there are no disputes in taxi associations falling under the alliance and that commuters get good service.
People who were contesting for positions are from various taxi associations in different districts, he explained. Lekgothoane said ten members were elected and they are keen to serve the people.
The alliance’s provincial administrator, Lesedi Mamushi outlined that these were the first regional elections in the history of the alliance and stressed that all matters affecting the taxi industry should be resolved at the regional office before being taken to provincial level. She congratulated the newly elected members and urged them to lead by example and be responsible.
The other elected members are Mac Makete, deputy chairperson, Piet Moreroa, secretary, Josephine Chochi, deputy secretary, Albert Mphahlele, treasurer, Patrick Kopane, public relations officer, Joe Dlamini, disciplinary committee chairperson, Phillip Kubjane, grievance chairperson, Grace Netshiozwi, training officer, and Willy Mphahlele, chaplain.
