Abraham Lehola, a custodial officer at Kutama Sinthumule Correctional Centre was expected to appear in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday) after he was recently arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman on 23 June.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the 41-year-old Lehola approached his victim at Madombidzha Village outside Louis Trichardt and allegedly fired two shots at her and forced her into his vehicle. He then allegedly drove to a lodge just outside town where reportedly raped her, according to Ngoepe.
The victim reported the matter to the Police and intense investigations led to the apprehension of Lehola. An unlicensed firearm and ammunition were also recovered during the arrest. Lehola briefly appeared before court on Tuesday after which the case was postponed.
Investigations continue.
