Temperatures below 20 degrees expected in Polokwane this week

This is due to one of the strongest cold fronts of the year making landfall over the weekend.

POLOKWANE – Make sure to bring out your warm blankies and put on an extra pair of socks this week as it’s about to get chilly!

According to Storm Report SA, two severe cold fronts are making their way towards the country, with the first making landfall, today, 2 July. This will be caused by two powerful pressure systems side-by-side. The first to take effect is a strong mid-latitude cyclone in the south. This will sweep the fronts into the south-western districts on Monday, 2 July, with maximum inland temperatures ranging from about 2 to 10 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures in Polokwane are therefore expected to remain in the high teens and low twenties for the rest of the week.

According to the South African Weather Service, Tuesday and Friday will be the coldest days of the week at 18 degrees while Monday will be the warmest at 24 degrees.

According to People’s Weather, Wednesday and Friday will be the coldest days at 16 degrees and Monday the warmest at 22 degrees.

The South African Weather Service says the cold front is expected to exit the country on Tuesday, 3 July, with fine weather returning over much of the country, but maximum temperatures will still be cold over many parts.
