Four Eagle’s Nest Christian School staff members were given an opportunity to attend a three-week beginners’ photography course offered by a local professional photographer, Sam Jacobsz earlier this month.
The course entailed six sessions and the participants were taught to understand their cameras, and the different components including features such as F-stop, shutter speed, ISO and composition, better. They had the opportunity to take photographs with their own cameras, download them on their laptops and corrected them using a Photoshop programme.
On the last day of the course they took an adventurous trip to Polokwane Game Reserve and were inspired by the endless possibilities for good photography. Participants are motivated and keen not to just press a button to take a photo in the future, but to look closer and see the beauty in nature. A beginner’s course for Eagle’s Nest journalism club is in the pipeline for the third term.
