Mr and Miss Heuwelkruin finalists reach out to New Horizon

Four finalists in the Mr and Miss Curro Heuwelkruin pageant, Lara Prenzler, Yvonne Claassens, Keanu Paulo and Deon Kriel spent time with the learners at New Horizon Special School as part of their social outreach programme on Sunday. On the day the finalists and New Horizon educator Lizzy Vogel taught the learners some basic gymnastics activities and skills.
“Our main focus is to introduce gymnastics to the learners with Down syndrome and we needed the assistance of the finalists in that regard. We want to have a strong competitive gymnastics team and I think programmes like this will benefit us,” Vogel said.
She also revealed that the learners were excited to see the finalists and also enjoyed testing their physical skills, balance and movement.
“The finalists and learners enjoyed each session and also learned from each other,” concluded Vogel.
