Man bust doing 180km/h on N1 South

The driver has been detained pending a bail application, says Spokesperson Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala

POLOKWANE – A 41-year-old motorists has been detained at the Westenburg Police Station after he was arrested for speeding along the N1 South, the Department of Transport said.

He was trapped in his VW Polo TSI at a speed of 180km/h in a 120km/h zone at around 10:00 this morning near the Caltex petrol station, Spokesperson Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala said in a statement.

“This should be a clear message to motorists that Limpopo is a zero tolerance zone . To those who do not obey the rules of the road, we will continue arresting without fear or favour,” he said.

The Department is committed to the safety of motorists on the road and this arrests takes one more reckless driver off the road, concluded Moremi-Taueatsoala.
