MOKOPANE: DA’s public hearing on 28 June

Anyone who values property can attend and make representations, says Beyers Smit, Political Head of the party.

MOKOPANE – The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo urges all citizens to participate in a public hearing on expropriation without compensation at the Aboo-A-Tayob Hall in Mokopane on 28 June.

Anyone who values property can attend and make representations, says Beyers Smit, Political Head of the party.

“The DA wants South Africans to own their land. We are against the ANC and EFF’s proposal to change the Constitution, more specifically section 25, also known as the property clause, to allow government to expropriate land without compensation so all property and land is owned by state.

“This will mean citizens will have to rent their homes and land from the state.”

Smit added South Africa suffers from a history of black people being denied land ownership. “We do not need to change the Constitution to address this. We need government action.”
