Condolences pour in following passing on of MEC Joyce Mashamba

Condolences have started pouring in following the passing on of Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Joyce Mashamba, a ruling party stalwart and one of the most senior politicians in Premier Stan Mathabatha’s executive, yesterday (Wednesday).
Premier’s spokesperson Kenny Mathivha confirmed that she passed on yesterday afternoon.
In his message Mathabatha extended his deepest condolences, also on behalf of his family as well as the Executive Council and the people of Limpopo, to her husband, George Mashamba, children and family.
“Comrade Joyce dies at a time when the ANC in Limpopo is convening its provincial conference this weekend and when the people of the province are yearning for her leadership.”
He was further quoted saying “As MEC in various capacities and portfolios she executed her responsibilities with diligence and was not one to carry her weight around. Although infirm in the past few years she continued to work until her last days. She passes away in the line of duty and we have and continued to miss her. Her counsel, her wisdom in both government and society will be sorely missed.”
The Speaker of the Legislature, Polly Boshielo also sent her condolences to Mashamba’s family, friends, comrades and colleagues. “We are saddened by this great loss, which is even greater to her family and husband, Mr George Mashamba who is also a selfless leader in his own right. May the soul of comrade Joyce Mashamba rest in peace,” concluded Boshielo.
