Druglord arrested in possession of drugs worth R1 million near Groblesdal

Three more suspects were arrested following the man's arrest.

LIMPOPO – Multi-discplinary tntelligent led joint operations are still producing positive and meaningful results when it comes to the mushrooming of drugs, says police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

This follows a recent sting operation conducted in the Motetema policing area, outside Groblesdal, where a druglord finally met his fate.

“An intensified operation comprising of provincial crime inteligence and detectives managed to track down a 34-year-old man at a rented two-roomed house, which he used to manufacture an assortment of drugs,” Ngoepe explained.

The suspect was caught in his sleep and arrested on the spot.

The following items were recovered during his arrest:

– 29 wrapped balls, each containing 500 sachets of Nyaope.
– Four balls each containing 250 wraps of Rocks (yellow).
– Six balls each containing 100 wraps of Rocks (brown).
– 14 loose plastics each containing 50 sachets of Nyaope.
– One packet with 25 sachets of Nyaope.
– One 9mm firearm with 15 rounds of ammunition.
– One Revolver firearm with 05 ammunition.

“The recovered drugs are estimated to have a street value of over R1 million,” Ngoepe added.

In the process of arresting the suspect, three more suspects between the ages of 26 and 30-years-old were arrested. They were found in possession of dagga.

“The three suspects and the druglord will appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate Court today and will face charges of dealing and possession of drugs as well as possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition,” he said.

Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers, has commended all members involved for their sterling work.
