Police arrest ten suspects in operation

Ten suspects were arrested on charges of various crimes during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by Police in Seshego, Thohoyandou, Bolobedu and Lephalale recently.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the successes of the operation include persons arrested on suspicion of escaping from custody, stealing batteries from a cell phone reception tower, illegally possessing firearms and ammunition and involvement in a series of crimes in Seshego.
Referring to an incident in Thohoyandou, Ngoepe indicated that Thomani Nenzhelele (27) and another awaiting trial prisoner escaped from custody while attending court at the end of May. Nenzhelele is facing charges ranging from murder, burglary, business robberies and hijacking. The other escapee who was also rearrested is also facing a charge of murder.
In a second incident Police stopped four suspects aged between 25 and 31 in their tracks outside Lephalale after being found in possession of suspected stolen batteries of a cell phone reception tower. Ngoepe said Police reacted swiftly and located the suspects and confiscated 12 batteries worth R420 000.
Meanwhile, Police in Bolobedu conducted Operation Seize Fire at Mamphakhathi village where two suspects aged 27 and 36 were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen properties. A firearm, 15 rounds of live ammunition, camouflage uniform and a knife were confiscated. The suspects may also be linked to a series of crimes in and around the Tzaneen Cluster.
Police also arrested two wanted suspects thought to have beeen involved in a series of business robberies in and around Seshego. A suspected stolen vehicle was recovered. The suspects were also positively linked to two other cases of armed robbery and one of business robbery. All suspects are expected in various courts in the province in due course.
