Pietersburg Comprehensive School (PCS) is proud of its drum majorette team that was selected by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture to be part of the opening ceremony of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) tournament at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Sunday.
Head coach, Modikwa Mohlake said their performance at the opening ceremony of the event boosted the team’s confidence ahead their provincial and national competitions.
“It was a dream come true for the learners to be part of such a huge tournament. We are the current champions of the Limpopo Majorette and Cheerleading Association. We will be representing the province in Cape Town during the South African Majorette and Cheerleading competition in July this year. Our performance at the Cosafa event gave us exposure and an opportunity to showcase some of our skills and thrills. The learners did well and dazzled the crowds with their routine and we are proud of them,” Mohlake said. Matseleng Rakgoale, captain of the squad said she will forever cherish the opportunity to perform at the tournament.
“It was a new experience altogether and we enjoyed every moment. Some of us seldom come to soccer matches and it was good to be part of the euphoria. We met players, coaches from different participating countries and leaders of the industry. We also appeared on TV so it was awesome,” Matseleng said.
