MOKOPANE – “I want to launch an outreach programme where we will teach the communities in the villages how to look after their animals and to prevent disease by dipping the animals and giving vaccinations.”

Sithole added he also has experience in the identification of mild diseases in animals.
Residents can also bring their domestic animals for consultation to the SPCA, a donation for the service will be welcomed.
Sithole was born and raised on a farm outside Harare in Zimbabwe where his love for animals stems from. “The SPCA conducted regular prevention of sickness outreaches on the farm. I was very interested in what they did and began working as a volunteer and was later appointed permanently.” He moved to Johannesburg and started working as a veterinary assistant. He missed the fieldwork, however, and interacted with animals he was used to at the SPCA. “I studied through the SPCA and became an animal inspector and moved to Port Elizabeth where I worked for four years.”
Sithole said when he heard there was a vacancy at Percy Fyfe SPCA, he immediately seized the opportunity because it is closer to his family in Zimbabwe. “I’m so happy to be here and I want to make a difference in the community when it comes to animals and their protection.”
