A traffic officer suspected of a shooting spree involving three minor girls in Greenside yesterday (Wednesday) is expected to appear in court in due course.
In a media statement the Provincial Police said the Westenburg Police had arrested the 42-year-old suspect after a reported incident that occurred yesterday around 12:30. The suspect allegedly insulted the victims – aged 13, 15 and 17 years respectively – where he would have encountered them in the street, whereupon an exchange of words apparently ensued. He allegedly chased them in his vehicle, shooting several shots in their direction.
In the statement issued by Moatshe Ngoepe it was mentioned that the 17-year-old had been injured in the process. She is reportedly recuperating at home after having been taken to hospital.
The suspect is due to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on a charge of attempted murder.
