Suspect arrested hours after farm attack in Vaalwater

A 70-year-old farmer was attacked by four armed suspects at his home on Friday, 1 June.

LIMPOPO – Police in Vaalwater, outside Lephalale, have made a major breakthrough by arresting a 33-year-old man for a house robbery which happened during a farm attack.

According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, a 70-year-old farmer was attacked by four armed suspects on the Sterkfontein Farm on Friday, 1 June.

“The suspects ushered the farmer to his house where they robbed him of  jewellery, four firearms, a ford ranger and cash before fleeing the scene,” Ngoepe explained. 

Police were notified, reacted swiftly and the suspect was arrested within a short space of time.

R8 500 and two guns with six rounds were recovered during the arrest.

The suspect will appear before the Lephalale Magistrate Court on Monday, 4 June.

“A manhunt for the remaining suspects is still on and police investigations are continuing.
