Lace up for Tekkie Tax

Each year on 25 May South Africans can take part in the international initiative Tekkie Tax.

POLOKWANE – Tekkie Tax is an international event in which you R10 for a sticker and R35 for a pair of funky shoelaces.

In this way, you support more than 250 different local welfare organisations.

This year the theme is Leave a Little Sparkle by wearing your tekkies, and laces are green for one shoe and blue for the other.

Christopher Combrink, Community Mobiliser at Cansa says readers can buy tickets as well as laces from the Cansa offices.

“We have education tickets available as well as laces.

“Since Cansa uses the money to educate people about the disease, we only sell education stickers.”

Meals on Wheels as well as Polokwane Nasorgsentrum sell tickets as well as laces and the Suid-Afrikaanse Vrouefederasie sells Bring Hope tickets for the elderly.
