A 37-year-old suspect is supposed to appear in court in Phalaborwa today after his arrest in connection with alleged theft of copper anodes by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit yesterday (Thursday).
In a release issued by Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Matimba Maluleke it was stated that the Hawks had received a tip-off about the suspect going to steal copper anodes from Phalaborwa Mining Company and launched an operation. It was added that the suspect was found in possession of copper anodes with an estimated value of R240 000 when cornered by the Police.
“Preliminary investigations led the Hawks to another house in Khujwana Village outside Tzaneen where more copper anodes were recovered, but the owner of the house was not found.”
