LIMPOPO – According to provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke, the Hawks received a tip off that the suspect would steal copper anodes from the Phalaborwa Mining Company.

“The suspect was cornered at the mine by the police and he was found in possession of copper anodes with an estimated value of R240 000,” he explained.
Preliminary investigations led the Hawks to another house in Khujwana village, outside Tzaneen, where more copper anodes were recovered. However, the owner of the house was not found.
“The suspect is expected to appear in the Phalaborwa Magistrates Court, today, whilst a search for more possible suspect(s) continues,” he concluded.
