Two suspects arrested in Modimolle for distributing illegal starter packs

The suspects were arrested on Monday, 14 May in the Modimolle CBD.

LIMPOPO – According to police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the suspects, aged 26 and 36-years-old were arrested by Modimolle police who were performing patrol duties.

“The suspects are believed to be part of the group which is contravening the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related/Information Act 70 of 2002,” he said.

Ngoepe adds that the duo were found distributing pre-registered starter packs in the Modimolle CBD and were immediately apprehended.

“The starter packs use false identify documents and false addresses. The two suspects will make their first court appearance soon on a charge of Contravention of Electronic Communication Act,” he explained.

Saps Provincial Commissioner Lt. General Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the Modimolle Police for their commitment in serving the community.

Ngoepe says that while police investigations continue, more arrests are expected as police believe this might be a bigger crime syndicate.
