V-Dub Crew add ‘sole’ to the W’burg community

The crew held their annual shoe run and this year they donated 50 pairs of school shoes to learners at Good Hope Primary School and 51 pairs to learners at Hoërskool Westenburg Secondary.

POLOKWANE – The Westenburg V-Dub Crew is at it again and this time they are focusing on learners in Westenburg. Education is very close to the heart of the Westenburg V-Dub Crew because they believe education is the key to success and will move the community out of poverty.

“Children are our future leaders and therefore we must invest in their education in any way we possibly can. With winter at our doorstep, it is difficult for learners to come to school when they do not have shoes. We hope through this donation we can help the children come to school every day of the week. We managed to buy the shoes with money that was raised during our annual charity bash as well as money raised during our Miss Westenburg V-Dub pageant. Each crew member also donated a pair of shoes. Sponsors came onboard and the community helped in the quest to make a difference,” said Melvin Stevens, Acting President of the Westenburg V-Dub Crew.

John le Roux, Good Hope Primary School Deputy Principal, thanked the crew for their generous donation. “We appreciate your generosity. With winter around the corner, the shoes will truly go a long way to help the needy children,” Le Roux said.

Martha Chuene-Masopoga, Hoërskool Westenburg Secondary Head of Department and also head of the school’s social welfare, said she was at a loss for words.

“It is good to know that former learners of this school, who are now community leaders in their own way, plough back into the school through this generous donation. We are truly grateful and hope this is not the last. May God bless you all,” Chuene-Masopoga said.

The crew thanks all their sponsors who helped made the shoe run a reality: Goldwagen, Vertex Drills, Kamo Joe, Fishaways Library Gardens, Mash and Tyre, Total Flora Park, BB Auto, Josty Wagen Auto Body, M&R Auto Body (Melvin Stevens), Hartlief Transport, Standard Bank, Volkswagen Polokwane, Team Car Spares and Rehana Rola Ferris.
