Makoko was announced and welcomed as the new CEO during an intimate event to give him the opportunity to meet everyone he will work with.
He succeeds Serobi Maja, who remains a member of the board.
The Board Chairperson, Elijah Tjane, said the board was optimistic Makoko will take them to greater heights and uphold the previous leadership’s legacy when it comes to ensuring the Limpopo Gambling Board retains unqualified audits and reports from the Auditor-General.
In his speech, Makoko said he was looking forward to working with the team and he urged them to feel free to talk to him if they have any problems.
“I want to steer the ship in the right direction and look forward to still make use of the former CEO’s knowledge to help keep the Limpopo Gambling Board at the standard it has been, keeping up with the good work this body has done in the past,” Makoko said.
Makoko is the former Deputy Director-General in the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA).
He has 31 years experience in the public service sector and has several qualifications including a BA Honours degree in social work and psychology, and a Master of Public Administration degree.
