One learner, Khomotso Mothibi who is a affiliated member of the Taxila Teenage Club (TTC) spoke about the importance of Earth Day and asked what the purpose is of having a house if one doesn’t have a tolerable planet to put it on.
“We need to start treating our environment with care. The simplest thing we can do to contribute towards saving the environment is to plant trees and keep it clean by picking up rubbish. We need to stop littering as it causes land pollution as we have all been taught in class. It also poses a threat to our health as we will be living in a dirty unhealthy environment,” she explained.
The school now has three bins for the different types of litter: plastics, papers and cans to help sort out rubbish.
They encourage neighbouring schools to follow suit their quest to save the environment.
