Car chase leads to the arrest of three suspects near Siloam

The suspects were arrested following a business robbery in the Dzanani area on Monday, 23 April.

LIMPOPO – The suspects were arrested during a tactical, inteligent led joint sting operation, which made a major breakthrough when they intercepted and dismantled a trio crime syndicate.

According to police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the suspects robbed a local hardware and robbed workers of their cell phones and fled the scene in a VW Jetta.

“Police were summoned and reacted swiftly. The getaway vehicle was then spotted at Mavhoi village along the R523 road. A motor vehicle chase ensued until the Matanda village where the three suspects were cornered and arrested,” he explained.

During the arrest, the following items were recovered:
– Four cars.
– Two 9mm firearms.

– Balaclavas.
– Hand gloves.
– Two dash board blue lights.
– R2 531 in cash

Ngoepe added that preliminary police investigations revealed the origin of the recovered cars as follows:
–  The BMW 540i belongs to the SANDF VIP Section.
–  The Mercedes Benz was hijacked in Pietermaritzburg in the KZN Province.
–  The VW Jetta 6 was hijacked in Primrose in the Gauteng Province.

Saps Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Nneke Ledwaba has commended all police officers who participated in the operation for the job well done. Ledwaba reiterated his strong warning to all criminals that Limpopo cannot be turned into their playground.

“We are equal to the task as the police and communities must continue supporting  by supplying us with quality and reliable information about any criminal activities occurring around their areas in order for us to deal with it successfully,” concluded Ledwaba.

The suspects will appear before the Dzanani Magistrates Court soon.

Ngoepe concluded by saying that police are still verifying whether one of the suspects is a member of the SANDF.
