[WATCH] Sarel Nong in -35 degree weather: “I can’t do this anymore”

Sarel Nong and five other South Africans made it to the base camp on Mount Everest but will soon be coming home.

POLOKWANE – On Sunday, Nong touched base with Review to say that all South Africans had made it safely to Mount Everest’s base camp.

In the video, Sarel explains that the team hadn’t slept due to ice falling down.

However, the weather is getting to the hikers and Nong says he is ready to come home.

“The hike down will take us about six days and I will be in Mzanzi by Sunday,” he said.

Sarel, along with his fellow South Africans, made the trip as part of the #Trek4Girls campaign.

Last year, Nong successfully made it to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro as part of the #Trek4Mandela campaign.
