The Polokwane Observer flag has been flying high on Mount Everest earlier today. It featured prominently as it was being displayed by local adventurer Sarel Nong as he posed for photos upon reaching Everest Base Camp.
Nong and a group of fellow-South African climbers, led by seasoned mountaineer Sibusiso Vilane, had seemingly reached their destination several hours ago.
From Everest Base Camp Nong sent visuals along with the message that they have all made it.
The return journey by the majority of the group is expected to take little less than a week, while Vilane is now due to continue his solitary trek to the summit.
