[TRAFFIC ALERT] The N1 between Polokwane and Mokopane is open

The accident scene has been cleared.

POLOKWANE – Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala says the highway is now open for traffic.

“As of now, all lanes are open and motorists are free to use the N1 rather than being restricted to the R101 only,” he said.


POLOWKWANE – According to spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala the closure is due to an accident involving two vehicles near the Shell Ultra City.

“Motorists are advised to use the R101 in the meantime,”  he said.

Two lanes in both directions have been closed and Moremi-Taueatsoala says the cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.

Police, traffic officials and emergency services are on scene.
