Mount Everest is located within the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas and is regarded as the highest mountain above sea level.

Sarel and Sibusiso Vilane, the first African to successfully summit the mountain, will take on the challenge with Mrs South Africa 2017/18 Nicole Capper, Tiger Brands LTB Board Member Maya Makanjee, Amesa Chairperson, Ester Masinga, and Heritage Capital Investment Founder, Kedibone Imathui.

Family and friends say farewell to Sarel Nong at Polokwane Airport.

“Even though the temperature is about -40º to -60º celsius, I told myself that I will conquer Mount Everest as part of the #Caring4Girls campaign to raise money to help needy children.

“We receive money from across the world and it gives me strength to persevere and prepare for this expedition. My family is the support system that I need to conquer this giant mountain.

“Without you I have no idea where I would be and I know your love for me is what’s keeping my head above the water,” Sarel said.

Lesiba ‘LessBoggie’ Chuene, Johz ‘Captain DyHard’ Mamabolo, Martin ‘Last Man Standing’ Antonio, and Abby ‘Cman’ Kekana bid farewell to former Sapa Yopa president, Sarel Nong, at Polokwane Airport.

Sapa Yopa President, Johz Mamabolo, said the team is proud of Sarel.

“We decided to come in numbers to bid farewell to our former president and to show him support. We know Sarel is not a quitter, he will conquer the highest mountain like he did with Mount Kilimanjaro. We wish him good luck and we are sure he will make Limpopo proud,” Johz said.

Sarel’s mother, Antonia Nong, gave him all her blessing. “This is not the first time he sets out to climb a high mountain and I know my son will conquer Mount Everest,” she said with a confident smile.

Lebowa Funerals Marketing Manager, George Sethosa, said Sarel is one of their reliable clients.

“When he asked us to be sponsors for the expedition we didn’t hesitate. We know this campaign and his efforts will help young girls in need. As Lebowa Funerals we promote healthy living and we wish him good luck on his journey,” Sethosa said.

Even though Sarel told BONUS via WhatsApp the temperature is already freezing at the first camp, he is excited and determined to see the ascent through to the end to fly the BONUS flag atop the highest point above sea level.
