The Police urged motorists to seek alternative routes when travelling on the R81 at Mooketsi between Giyani and Polokwane as the road is still barricaded by stones and other debris by protesters.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that Police and members of the Public Order Policing Unit (Pops) are on the scene to monitor the situation.
Thus far no reports of injuries or malicious damage to property were received, according to Ngoepe.
He could not indicate why community members are protesting but said Police will remain on the scene to keep an eye on the situation.
