According to the spokesperson for the department of transport and safety in Limpopo, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, the tyre of a Nissan mini bus burst, causing it to sideswipe with an on-coming VW Sedan. This caused the mini bus to overturn.

“Three people were seriously injured while six people sustained critical injuries and five other people were slightly injured. They were taken to the Mahwelereng and Voortrekker Hospitals for medical treatment,” he explained.

In the second accident, one person was killed on the N1-28 near Pepperboom.

Moremi-Taueatsoala says the driver of an Opel Corsa sedan lost control of the vehicle and overturned, killing a 30-year-old passenger.

“Four other people were slightly injured and were taken to the Pietersburg Hospital for treatment,” he concluded.
