#EasterTraffic – 2 dead as bus and taxi collide near Nobody

The accident occurred on Sunday night as traffic from Moria increased.

POLOKWANE – According to the spokesperson for the department of transport and safety in Limpopo, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, the accident occurred on the R71, near Nobody en route to Polokwane late on Sunday night.

The accident involved a pedestrian, a bus and a taxi.

MEC for Transport and Safety, Makoma Makhurupetje, who was on the scene, explained that a pedestrian was hit by an oncoming bus and a speeding taxi then collided with the bus. 

“The driver of the taxi as well as the pedestrian were killed and as a result, we are calling upon motorists to please drive patiently. Let us all make sure that we drive safely,” she said.

In a separate accident, one person was killed on the D9 road, in the Vhembe district, when a speeding vehicle lost control and overturned.

Moremi-Taueatsoala confirmed that four people sustained serious injuries and two other people sustained minor injuries.
