Fashion trends to never be repeated

We have all experienced a few fashion mishaps as we experiment with the latest fashion trends. Although we manage to come out on top in most occasions, there are some fashion trends that are better left in the past.

POLOKWANE –  Here is a list of seven trends we should never again resort to.

Dungarees for men.

* Denim dungarees for men.

Although we all have a specific image of how this is supposed to look, we tend to forget that some clothing items work on a certain body type. Instead of looking like a chic male model, many just end up looking like farmer Joe.

Fishnet stockings.

* Fishnet stockings.

Well, there is no appropriate way to wear fishnet stockings. They are one of those things that look tacky no matter how you try to dress it up, unless you are a model doing a photo-shoot targeted at a specific audience.

A Mullet hairstyle.

The mullet is another trend that we hope to never see in style again. Besides, not everybody can rock one like Billy Ray Cyrus and even he has hanged his mullet ambassador cap.

Crocs.

* Crocs.

There has been much debate on the ‘cool status’ of Crocs. Although these shoes are good for comfort, they leave much to be desired if you are trying to earn street cred.

A G-string and a low cut jean.

* G-string and low cut jeans.

Goodness gracious! This trend was for the brave, and it is still hard to believe it almost caught on, for obvious reasons. But, we are glad it is all behind us now.

* Colourful aerobics outfits from the 90’s.

I have a feeling this is yet to make a super comeback but for now, let’s heave a sigh of relief because we are are still clear. These outfits were super colourful and extra body forming without revealing too much skin, I guess, back then you could have the best of both worlds.

Layering tank tops.

*Layering tank tops.

This trend made it on to the red carpet at some point. This was an interesting take on layering clothes but unfortunately it did not work. Stop it, just don’t do it.

Pants with lace up crotches.

*Pants with lace up crotches.

I have yet to figure out how this trend came about, but there is nothing flattering about drawing attention to the crotch.
