Two security officials seriously injured during R40 cash-in-transit heist

The vehicle was travelling along the R40 between Acornhoek and Hoedspruit when the incident occurred

 

LIMPOPO – The Hoedspruit Police are still on the lookout of a group of armed suspects involved in the robbery of  a cash-in-transit vehicle on Saturday afternoon.

According to a statement issued by Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moathshe Ngoepe, the suspects were travelling in two vehicles, a VW Amarok and a Toyota Corolla. “It is alleged they shot at the CIT vehicle  until the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. Subsequently, these suspects used explosives to blow up the one side of the security vehicle and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money,” said Ngoepe.

He added that two security officials sustained serious injuries during this incident and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The suspects involved in this incident are unknown and the police urge anyone with information which can assist in the arrest the suspects in this matter to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501.
