POLOKWANE – The IIAL programme as implemented by the Department of Education in various schools in the province is aimed at facilitating social cohesion to ensure social integration and inclusion in communities and societies at large.
It is a strategy aimed at introducing previously marginalised official languages in all the schools which are currently not offering any of these.
“The main idea behind the concert is to show the parents that their children are learning to speak other languages other than their mother tongue, so today they will be acting out plays, reciting poems and idioms in other languages that are spoken in the school such as Venda, Xitsonga, Swati, Hindi, Sepedi and of course English,” Nirvana Primary School Principal Thokozane Mhlongo explained.
