Education and Health were given the biggest slice of the cake by the Provincial Treasury MEC Rob Tooley when he tabled the 2018/19 provincial budget amounting to R65,4 billion in the Legislature earlier today (Tuesday).
The Department of Education will receive R30,6 billion while the Department of Health was allocated R19,5 billion for the upcoming financial year. Tooley announced that the provincial expenditure grows from R61,4 billion in 2017/18 to R65,4 billion for the next financial year. He said the provincial spending was funded by two main sources being the transfer receipts national comprised of the provincial equitable share and conditional grants and provincial own receipts made up of tax receipts, fines and sale of capital assets.
