Toddler escapes death after car bumps her over

The incident took place in front of her house in Sekgakgapeng earlier this month.

MOKOPANE – Mpho Mashaba, the father of the toddler, said he can only thank God for saving his child Kgothotsa Kekana (3) when she was hit by a car.

According to Mashaba, Kekana unnoticed slipped out of the yard and ventured into the street in front of a vehicle.

“The next thing I heard was brakes and my child screaming.

“When I went outside I saw her lying next to the road.

Kgothotsa Kekana (3) recuperating in Voortrekker Hospital after the accident.

“My heart stopped for a minute before I rushed to her. I could see she had a lot of bruises and blood flowing from her face. I immediately took her to Voortrekker Hospital where she is recuperating from a fractured leg.

Mashaba suspects that speed also played a role in the accident.

“If you take into consideration the distance that the car braked and rolled anyone can see that the driver did not keep to the speed limit.

“There are a lot of children playing in the streets in our suburbs and drivers should keep this in mind.

“I beg the municipality to put more speed humps on our roads to prevent accidents like this.”
