Alleged murderer on the run after escape

Police are still searching for Vincent Kgoedi, recently arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder, who with two other awaiting trial prisoners escaped from Tubatse Police holding cells on Monday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that Kgoedi, Emmanuel Lebambo and Simon Mokone escaped through the roof of the exercise room of the cells. Lebambo was detained on charges of rape, housebreaking, theft and assault while Mokone faced charges of robbery, possession of firearm without a license as well as possession of suspected stolen properties.
A task team was established to trace the escapees and cornered Mokone in the Burgersfort area.
He allegedly started shooting at Police who retaliated, fatally wounding him.
Lebambo was also traced in the area and tried to evade arrest but was shot in the leg. He was treated at a local hospital and will appear in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court soon, according to Ngoepe.
