Operational successes in the fight against trio crimes in Limpopo

A concerted effort to fight incidents of property and trio crime, has once again yielded positive results with the recent arrests of several hardened criminals during ongoing operations in the province.

LIMPOPO – These operations were conducted by the Dedicated Joint Clusters and Stations Task Teams comprising various police units in the Lephalale, Nkowankowa, Levubu and Thohoyandou areas.

The success included the following, said Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe

In the Dorset Policing area outside Lephalale, five suspects (aged between 20 and 45) were arrested this morning in connection with a farm attack which occurred at Oversprong farm on Monday this week where one person was shot and wounded during the attack. During the arrests one firearm, two slots (rifle barrels), 15 cell phones and ammunition were recovered.


In the Ritavi Policing area outside Tzaneen, two suspects (aged 24 and 30) were arrested for possession of suspected stolen properties during a sting operation conducted by the Tzaneen Cluster Tracing Team at Dan village.

During this operation household items, clothing, clothing accessories, balaclavas, handcuffs, firearms and ammunition, a Mercedez-Benz, police coat and police blue lights were confiscated.

In Levubu outside Thohoyandou, three suspects (aged between 22 and 32) were arrested on a series of offenses ranging from burglary residential, house robberies ,business robberies, murder, kidnappings, rapes to attempted murders. two firearms and live ammunition, University of Venda student’s IPad, identity document and driver’s license, were recovered during these arrests.

These suspects have also been positively linked to nine cases of house robberies, rapes and robbery with firearm in the Maungani and Muledane village areas outside Thohoyandou.

All the arrested suspects will appear before the respective court soon.

The Saps Provincial Commissioner Lt. General Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed this milestone achievement and further commended the officials from Tzaneen, Thohoyandou and the Lephalale Clusters, on a job-well done.
