UPDATE: Burnt body identified as retired police spokesperson

The deceased, whose body was found in a burnt out vehicle next to the R37 road recently, has been identified as a former SAPS Colonel, Mohlabi Lazarus Tlomatsana.

LIMPOPO – This gruesome discovery was made by a passerby who spotted the burnt out vehicle parked inside in the bushes near Leporogong village on 3 February 2018.

The body was burnt beyond recognition, and only through DNA forensic investigations could the body be identified, said Police spokesperson, Brig Matlafela Mojapelo.

“Tlomatsana retired at the age of 60 from the South African Police Service on 31 August 2017. He was attached to the National Corporate Communication and Liaison in Pretoria at the time of his retirement.”

The police have since launched a manhunt for the assailants and no arrests have been affected so far. The motive for the incident is also unknown at this stage.
