Employees and service providers of Fast and Furious Distribution downed tools and protested on Monday (today) at the company’s offices in Polokwane demanding alleged outstanding wages.
Close to 30 employees and service providers are apparently face their third month without any payment and demand that they be paid with immediate effect.
Employees claim they are being owed closed to R329 000 by the employer. “He owes us lots of money. He promised to pay our full salaries for December, January and February but he has not done so. When we signed contracts he said that he would pay us on the 15th of every month but he has failed to live up to this undertaking.
“He operates with big companies such as Edgars, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Edcon, Avon and Shoprite and these companies pay him on time and in full but he is unable to pay us,” Dennis Legodi, one of the service providers contracted to the company, said.
Another service provider, Crouse Thobejane said they felt abused by the company. “Some employees and service providers have been with the company for five years. They have been suffering in silence. We have families to take care of and bills to pay. We are blacklisted and car dealerships are threatening to repossess our vehicles because we are unable to keep up with monthly instalments. We need our money and we will continue the strike action until we get what we were promised,” Thobejane said.
At the time of going to press Daniel Setageng, Branch Manager for Fast and Furious Distribution in Polokwane could not be reached for comment.
