All four suspects arrested in connection with Warrant Officer’s brutal murder remanded in custody

Both the deceased's daughters together with their accomplices will reappear before the same court on 23 February 2018

LIMPOPO -The suspects arrested on 15 February in connection with the murder of Warrant Officer Alugumi Thomas Nemugumoni have today (Monday) appeared in the Vuwani Magistrates Court.

Nemugumoni was murdered at his home at Tshakhuma Luvhalani B village on Monday, 12 February.

The elder daughter of the deceased together with her co-accused, the elder brother of the 19-year-old who was arrested last Wednesday, appeared on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder, said Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

They will make their second court appearance together with their partners in crime on 23 February 2018, he added.

The late warrant officer was laid to rest on Saturday 2018-02-17.

LIMPOPO – The latest arrests bring the total number of suspects arrested to four.

Nemugumoni was murdered at his home at Tshakhuma Luvhalani B village on Monday, 12 February, when an unknown man attacked him and stabbed him with a sharp instrument.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, one of the two suspects is the elder sister (26) of the previously arrested 21-year-old daughter of the deceased. The second is the 24-year-old elder brother of the 19-year-old  suspect who was arrested on Wednesday.

“These brothers are known to be notorious criminals and are likely to be connected to other crimes in the area,” says Mojapelo.

The first two suspects appeared in the Vuwani Magistrates Court earlier today and were remanded in custody until Friday 23 February 2018. The latest arrested suspects will appear before the same court on Monday 19 February 2018. All four suspects face charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder, confirmed Mojapelo.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has once again commended the members for their relentless pursuit of the suspects responsible for this cold blooded murder. The swiftness in which this case was cracked should be emulated by all members, concluded General.

LIMPOPO – Police in Levubu arrested two suspects on Wednesday, 14 February in connection with the murder of Warrant Officer, Thomas Alugumi Nemugumoni (54)

Nemugumoni was murdered at his home at Tshakhuma Luvhalani B village on Monday, 12 February, when an unknown man attacked him and stabbed him with a sharp instrument.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the first suspect arrested was a 19-year-old man, who was nabbed during a “sterling detective assignment carried out by a team of operatives comprising of crime intelligence, a Thohoyandou cluster task team, detective services and crime prevention.”

Mojapelo added that investigations by the same team led to the arrest of the deceased’s 21-year-old daughter whom is believed to have played a role in masterminding the murder of her father.

‘The motive for this incident is still being investigated,” he said.

Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has expressed his delight and commended all members involved for succeeding in cracking this case within two days.

The suspects will appear in the Vuwani Magistrates Court on Friday, 16 February.

Mojapelo concluded by saying that more arrests are expected.
