Traffic inspector killed in head-on collision outside Lephalale

Two people are confirmed dead after two vehicles caught alight following a head-on collision along the R518 road about 15kms outside Lephalale on Saturday evening.

 

LIMPOPO- According to a statement issued by Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the silver-grey  VW Polo and a blue Ford Focus, travelling opposite directions, collided at around 20:00.

 

Both drivers were burnt beyond recognition, said Ngoepe.

“One of the deceased is confirmed to be a Provincial Traffic Inspector stationed at Lephalale Traffic Station,” added Traffic Spokesperson Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala.

The deceased’s names will be released as soon as their positive identification has been made and their next of kin notified, confirmed Ngoepe.

The exact cause of this accident is still unknown and will form part of a police investigation.

A case of culpable homicide and the police appeal to anyone who might assist them with the identification of the other deceased to contact Captain Mabila at 082 414 3215 or to go to Lephalale Police Station.
